This small volunteer Fire Department existed until 1980, and then the Village hired three (3) part time firefighters to cover daytime hours during the week. Over the years, the department and services have expanded. The Current department consists of the chief, a clerk, one captain, five lieutenants, and twenty-five firefighters. All are State Certified Firefighters and emergency Medical Technicians. Along with 24 hour coverage, the department provides Fire Suppression, Fire Inspection, Fire Prevention, Fire investigation, Hazardous Material Intervention, Extrication and Emergency Medical Services. The department has callbacks for major fires. |
